McLEANS Normandy (Dunkirk)

The new office at Dunkirk of Normandy Claims Services SAS was opened in 2006 to represent P&I Clubs and marine Insurers for the ports of Dunkirk, Calais and Boulogne.

Giving onto the North Sea at the entrance of the Channel, third largest port in France, the deep sea port of Dunkirk spreads out on 17 kms of shoreline. Resolutely turned to the sea historically and economically, Dunkirk is at less than 300 kms from 5 capitals: London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and Luxemburg. Maritime gateway to Northern Europe, its port is connected to the inland network of canals.

The seafront is characterized by strong currents and particularly rough and windy weather conditions during the winter period . Dense merchant traffic shares the area with several regular ferry rotations between France and England as well as a busy fishing activity. Dunkirk is the leading French port for imports of ore, coal and fresh fruit in containers, and the 3rd port in size of the country; Calais the 2nd European port for passenger transportation ; and Boulogne the leading European port for fishing activity with 1000 fishing boats registered there.

As an active P&I Correspondent present in the region, we are committed to providing our principals with all the necessary nautical, legal, operational guidance and assistance at any time needed. Liaising with the port community, we work with our network of qualified surveyors and take personally charge of all operations, discussions and negotiations required, consistent with and justifying our role as P&I Correspondent - which makes all the difference in settling matters and obtaining significant results for our principals.
