McLEANS embarked on a project to build a reliable and extensive network in West and East Africa as a response to concerns of Shipowners and their P&I Providers for reliable and cost effective services.

WAMS (West-East African Marine Services) was initially founded in 2008 and the early years saw WAMS grow steadily.

WAMS was officially launched in the market in 2012, first specializing in Hull & Machinery insurance claims as Average Agents, the WAMS activity then progressed to the point where it was also officially launched internationally as a Correspondent for P&I Providers, having some 19 countries and 31 ports covered by WAMS’ services with dedicated franchise Partners.

Now in operation for over a decade, McLEANS’ African brand WAMS is well known by the market while constantly adapting its network to meet the needs of the clients.

McLEANS’ experienced staff can offer the most effective response to the services required, conveying all key information and also providing a service tailor-made to the shipping community and the marine insurance market.
